Calais XXL, a destination awarded the Toutourisme label

Because travel habits are changing and more and more visitors want to travel with their pets, Calais XXL commits to the Toutourisme approach and affirms its positioning as a welcoming destination for travelers accompanied by their dog.

Why this approach?

Today, more and more French people are traveling with their dogs. For a tourist destination, this represents a real opportunity for increased appeal. Committing to the Toutourisme certification allows you to:

  • To capture a wider and more loyal customer base,
  • To stand out through a modern and welcoming positioning,
  • Meeting new expectations for responsible and inclusive tourism.

In a territory of wide open spaces, beaches and nature walks like ours, welcoming dogs is a natural part of the experience offered to visitors.

A label as recognition of an already well-established reality

With its vast natural spaces, coastline, walking trails, and diverse tourist offerings, the region is particularly well-suited to this type of holiday. This certification recognizes and formalizes an existing reality in the destination: many businesses already welcome visitors accompanied by their four-legged companions. Through this initiative, the Tourist Office aims to both to recognize the actors involved in this reception et to facilitate visitor information looking for suitable addresses and experiences.

What is the Toutourisme label?

Created in 2007 at the initiative of the Troyes Tourist Office, the Toutourisme® label was designed to promote the welcome and information provided to pet owners in tourist destinations. It highlights establishments that accept pets and implement appropriate reception conditions.

To date, 55 destinations across France have been awarded the label. All information about the label can be found on the website well-known to tourists traveling with their pets.

How are dogs received at the Tourist Office?

Specifically, as part of the Toutourisme initiative, Calais XXL has implemented several measures for visitors accompanied by their dogs within the Tourist Office.

  • On site, a "dog bar" is available so that dogs can quench their thirst during the visit.
  • Owners also receive a welcome pack containing practical information for exploring the area with their pet: walk ideas, useful tips for enjoying your stay with your dog,
  • As well as some goodies.
