Announcements for the 2025 Ambassadors Evening

At the Grand Théâtre de Calais, this Thursday, April 24, 200 representatives of the region's tourist and cultural establishments accepted the invitation of Calais XXL. In an atmosphere that reflected our values, this friendly annual meeting provided an opportunity to unveil the major ambitions for the 2025 season and to share editorial and digital newsand of to strengthen the ties which unite the actors of the attractiveness of the territory.

The annual meeting of tourism professionals

One year after the launch of the Calais XXL brand, this evening confirms the momentum underway. Tourism professionals, elected officials, restaurateurs, accommodation providers, and institutional partners came together with a common goal: to continue promoting the urban area and its 14 municipalities as a must-see, authentic, and generous tourist destination.

The objective of this annual evening is evolving from a brand launch format to first annual destination development meeting. Presentation of the results of the past year, prospects and ambitions for the coming season, But also networking of representatives of territorial structures, the event bears the heavy responsibility of unite the destination's tourism ecosystem. The new features announced

The destination portal

Launched in October 2024, this tourist portal has been designed as a true travel companion, capable of accompanying each visitor before, during, and after their stay in the heart of our 14 municipalities. Supported by the specialized agency Yata!, we have chosen a simple interface and functions, but with a bold design that lets our XXL tone express itself. Its greatest originality lies in a new way of approaching awareness of the values ​​of the territory as differentiating markers. It is the central pivot of our new content strategy with a rich editorial line which gives rise to visit suggestions and inspirations every week. The Regional Tourist Information System

The site is based on a tourist information system; the SIT sheets. Thanks to this new tool, local professionals can themselves enrich and update their information, thus ensuring reliable, dynamic data directly connected to the local offering. A concrete step forward to strengthen the visibility and responsiveness of all local tourism stakeholders. As a bonus, we have chosen to implement the Hauts-de-France Tourism SIT, guaranteeing the standardization of information in databases up to the regional level. It is also a additional visibility for the entire territory's offering which appears on different websites that share this system, such as the Hauts de France Tourism portal.

Unified ticketing

All guided tours and activities organized by the Calais XXL Tourist Office are now accessible via an online ticket office. This new tool brings together major events in the region and facilitates access to reservationsAlready boasting around a hundred events, this platform allows visitors to easily plan their outings and not miss any unmissable events.

During the summer, it should also offer ticketing for the Dragon Company and Memory Museum 39-45In addition to the stakeholders, the Calais XXL portal also becomes a gateway to and purchase from the region, making it easier for visitors.

Large Plan: The Calais XXL destination magazine

An original and unprecedented format for the territory, Plan Large sweeps the panorama of stories to tell this season at Calais XXLThe elongated format reflects the need for a larger medium to 'bring in' everything that makes us unique. Plan Large, a name to evoke the immensity of the landscapes, but also the activities and different points of view of our guests who give changing colors to the Opal Coast.

The magazine is an annual periodical that offers a comprehensive overview of the year with its retrospectives, stories, heritage, events, and even recipes. The editorial focus is on highlighting the personalities who make the region unique: our ambassadors. If you're not featured this year, don't worry—the mic is open for the second issue!

The Magazine that tells you about the identity of the territory

In this first edition, readers are invited to discover a file dedicated to the arrival of the Travel Monitor Lizard, to celebrate 100 years of Calais – Saint-Pierre, to dive into the world of street art or even to meet emblematic local personalities such as Franck Ackermann, creator of the famous Calais knife.

Distributed free of charge in all the towns in the metropolitan area, this magazine is aimed at both passing visitors and locals curious to rediscover their region.

The ambassador approach and quality of reception

The annual attraction evening, launched in 2024, is becoming the Ambassadors' evening! At Calais XXL, we believe there are no set criteria for enjoying talking about and promoting the region. Are you a professional involved in tourism, culture, restaurants, accommodation, or local authorities? Do you enjoy talking about our region to your visitors? Welcome!

The Calais XXL ambassador approach has 4 components:

  • An annual evening for representatives of each structure, in order to discuss the past year and the coming season while having the opportunity to meet the local ecosystem.
  • A program of training workshops to develop its business, share best practices and promote our sense of sharing up to the business level!
  • Tools dedicated to professionals : ticketing, high-performance guided tours/audio guides that can be added at any time.
  • A documentary and directory space with all the workshop reports, kits and tools developed by Calais XXL in a regular and accessible blog format.

The professional training program, 100% free!

Because a region cannot develop without those who bring it to life on a daily basis, a training program lays the foundation for our ambassador approach. Offered by Calais XXL Tourisme and its partners, this program includes a variety of modules to support professionals on topics as concrete as customer reception,digital communication, attention to foreign visitors and languages or, the appropriation of new tools such as the web portal or the SIT.

The ambition is clear: to strengthen local skills, encourage an improvement in the quality of reception, and create the conditions for an ever stronger collective dynamic.

Our visitor-friendly editions are expanding!

The tourist guide in four languages, designed to exist permanently, remains valid in its entirety, but an expanded 2025 edition will follow as soon as stocks run out.

The tourist map available in two languages ​​remains valid until the end of stocks before giving way to the 2025 edition which includes a colossal update. A clearer map, reinforced information on mobility and parking and above all, the highly sought-after Street-Art works!
