Sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding: a spot of excellence
On the road leading to Cap Blanc-Nez and not far from the large sandy beaches of Calais and Marck, the Tom Souville base has been recognized by the Pas-de-Calais Department as a prime spot for inland waterway sailing. Its 25-hectare body of water offers ideal conditions for beginners and experienced sailors alike: sailing, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and funboating are all available for private lessons or independent rental, supervised by a team that welcomes both novices seeking thrills and seasoned sailors.
The base also has the necessary infrastructure to host seminars and group stays, making this site an ideal starting point for discovering the nautical riches of the Opal Coast.

The base is named after Tom Souville, a Calaisian privateer born in 1777, who became a cabin boy at 11 and a legendary figure in the local navy, initiating Calais' first lifeboat in 1819. A statue pays tribute to him facing the port, and this nautical base perpetuates his memory today on the waters he so often sailed.

A 2,4km loop
A 2,4 km hiking trail encircles the lake, forming a popular loop for walkers and dog walkers, offering unobstructed views of the sailboats and kayaks that bring the base to life. Runners will also find something to enjoy thanks to a specially marked section, designed for both training and casual outings. Accessible to everyone during the base's opening hours, this loop can be explored freely, on foot, with family or friends.
