A survivor of time
Originally dedicated to the Holy Cross, the church of Boucres has existed since at least 1560. Restored for the first time in 1701, it experienced a more turbulent history after the Revolution: acquired for storing fodder, it was saved by the faithful and rented to the municipality until 1829.
Its current tower dates from 1845. The bell tower and roof were restored in 1996. Now returned to religious use, the Saint-Martin church houses 16 heritage elements listed as Historical Monuments.
Not to be confused with the Sainte-Victoire Chapel, one kilometer away: this one occupies the site of the old church of Hames, also originally dedicated to Saint-Martin, before its destruction by lightning in 1764.
