On Rue Royale in Calais, L'Atelier du Chocolat combines an artisanal chocolate shop and a hot chocolate tasting room. There, artisan chocolatier Christophe Auchedé has created "Le Varan en chocolat" (The Varan in Chocolate), an exceptional piece made from 3D drawings to celebrate the arrival of the new mechanical creature in Calais in November 2025. This unique mold, available in milk or dark chocolate, is made from three exceptional cocoa beans from São Tomé, Ecuador, and Ivory Coast. Limited to 700 pieces, each one comes with a replica of an original Varan drawing by François Delarozière, a delicious nod to Calais's mechanical heritage.
