Myriam Pont, a life on the foreshore

The daughter and granddaughter of fishermen, Myriam Pont has been selling her mussels and cockles on the Quai de la Colonne since the age of 16. A Knight of the National Order of Merit since 2017 for her commitment to the protection of nature and maritime heritage, she has passed on her passion to her whole family: her husband and sons now participate in the harvest, respecting minimum catch sizes and traditional shore fishing techniques.

Sale of shellfish harvesting products

Local mussels, periwinkles, samphire, brown or pink shrimp, and clams: Myriam Pont's shellfish harvest is available for direct sale on the Quai de la Colonne, with the option of tasting on site. Using rakes, sieves, and hand-sorting, Myriam Pont also demonstrates the traditional techniques of shellfish harvesting, from the intertidal zone to the knowledge of minimum catch sizes.
