The free public transport network Imag'in

The urban area's public transport network consists of 13 lines accessible free of charge which serve the municipalities of Sangatte, Blériot-Plage, Coquelles, Coulogne, Guînes, Marck, Fréthun, Les Attaques, Hames-Boucres and Nielles-lès-Calais.

Excursion to Cap Blanc Nez aboard the Div'In panoramic double-decker bus

From the city center to Cap Blanc Nez, a journey rich in history and landscapes is offered to you on board an open-top double-decker bus in good weather.

The Div'in, a double-decker bus, takes you to Cap Blanc-Nez via line 5 of the Imag'in network and departs from the multimodal center of the Gare de Calais-Ville. Designed as a separate line of the network, it extends to the cape depending on the season. To check the service, go to the Imag'in network website.

Balad'in: The city center mini-shuttle.

In addition to the urban network, Balad'in offers you a more detailed service to the heart of the city.

Take advantage of the Balad'in, a free shuttle from Monday to Saturday (9am to 19pm) connecting the north (fishing port) and the south (Boulevard Lafayette) of Calais, with departures every 10-15 minutes. In addition, the Balad'in also serves the Car Ferry Terminal! A quick and easy way to travel around the city center of Calais from one end to the other!

The self-service bicycle network: Vél'in

The Vel'In service is a self-service bicycle rental system with more than 70 resorts throughout the urban area. To use this service, subscribe online, or use your phone on the bicycle docking stations, recognizable by their blue color. Vél'in includes 60 minutes of free travel. Beyond this, races will be billed at €2 for each additional 60 minutes.

The Majest'in River Shuttle

The Calais Majest'in, a panoramic river shuttle, transports you on the waters of the Calais Canal!

Connecting Calais Nord to Coulogne via the Calais Canal. The Majest'in offers a 30-minute journey with stops near the Notre-Dame Church, the Cité de la Dentelle et de la Mode, and Place Crève-cœur. Five stations are located near the main districts and monuments of Calais for an original visit along the water.

For an even more complete trip, take your bike on board and let yourself glide along the Calais Canal, an original way to discover the region by combining boat and bike during a ride! It is also possible to take bicycles or scooters on board to join the Euro Véloroute from Coulogne.

Walks will resume in February 2025.

Opal Bike Services

Opal Bike Services is the association serving all cyclists in the urban area, offering rental of various types of bicycles (mountain bikes, hybrid bikes, road bikes, tandems, etc.) as well as all accessories (locks, helmets, repair kits, etc.). It also offers repair services and participatory workshops.

2 Caps by Bike offers the rental of electric mountain bikes with guide for tour packages according to your desires and the seasons.

Free parking

From June 2025, the parking formula will be harmonized across the entire Calais region, making it clearer and more understandable, while allowing everyone to find a solution adapted to their needs. Parking is free throughout the Calais metropolitan area with a few rare exceptions!

Some areas may be governed by blue areas and require the use of a regulatory blue time clock disc. In Calais, blue zones offer a parking time limited to 1 hours from Monday to Saturday, from 30:9 a.m. to 00:12 p.m. and from 00:14 p.m. to 00:19 p.m. Parking is returned to residents outside of these hours.

Free parking in Calais

These car parks are located less than a 7-minute walk (or 500 meters on foot) from shopping areas or points of interest and are therefore an excellent option for long-term parking or when the area is particularly busy.

Calais North & beach

Parking lots 1 to 7 — Calais LA plage
Seven car parks are located along the Calais seafront, along Winston Churchill Avenue and Gaston Berthe Dam to Blériot-Plage. Illuminated signs indicate the remaining spaces. 

Car parks 8 & 9 — Beach & Asfeld
The large P8 and P9 car parks are a 5-minute walk from the seafront (located on Rue d'Asfeld) and allows visitors to easily find a place for quick and immediate access to the beach from the peripheral road accesses. A sure bet for spending more time on the sand.

Parking lots 11 and 12 — Plaisance & Dombunker
The marina car park, located along the western basin, offers easy access to major events taking place in Calais Nord and on the Place d'Armes.

Calais city center

At the foot of the Town Hall and the Belfry of Calais, Quai du Rhin (alongside the Calais Ville SNCF train station and the central bus station of the Imag'in network).

Place d'Armes 
Place d'Armes offers direct access to the shops and restaurants of Calais Nord. Please note that this is also the forecourt for major events and is therefore inaccessible during major programming dates; the marina parking lot is just a stone's throw away.

“Heart of Life”, the covered parking lot in the city center

Free 2 hours — The Calais Cœur de Vie shopping center is located in the city center (Boulevard Jacquard) has a parking lot on 2 levels 720 covered places in a space monitored and fully accessible to people with reduced mobility. Take advantage of your parking to recharge your electric car ! Parking closed on Sundays.

Coastal car parks

At Cape Blanc-Nez

Free - Located on the D940, the car park at the cape is ideally placed for direct access to the top of the cape and its obelisk. Be careful, during busy periods, it can quickly become saturated. Take the free double-decker bus line that runs along the coast from Calais.

At the Cran d'Escales

Free - Located on Rue de la Mer, this car park offers direct access to the beach. Located at the end of the village, at the foot of the cliffs, it is ideal for accessing the hiking trails leading to Cap Blanc-Nez and its panoramic viewpoint. Please note that some places are limited to a height of 2,10 m.

At the Hemmes de Marck

Free - The Chemin des Dunes car park, located on the street of the same name, provides access to the bird observatories, the Digue Taaf and the trails around the Oldenburg battery in the heart of Hemmes de Marck.

 

Motorhome parking areas

For motorhome owners, Calais XXL offers various parking and service areas:

  • In Calais : A parking area is available near the seafront, less than 10 minutes walk away. 106 spaces with automatic access, €14,60 per night (low season €16,60 high season). Rue d'Asfeld, 62100 Calais. 
  • To Marck : A municipal paid area with waste disposal and water services, near the Ferme des Aigrettes. €8 per night. Allée. de la Découverte, 62730 Marck.
